Marquis D Lafayette, a school in the uptown area of New Orleans on Carrollton Avenue, primarily represented a high-grade masonry restoration opportunity for Lathan. Restoration involved one-hundred percent re-pointing, cleaning, and repair of the brick walls as well as restoration of the stone sills and headers over windows. This project was a unique opportunity for Lathan, as the brick used in the building was an early twentieth century, factory-formed brick with scratch face or “wire scratch”, making it significantly more challenging to clean.
